Failing Brickwork Repairs
Action Wall Ties have been helping homeowners and commercial and public sector landlords with failing brickwork issues on their properties for over 30 years.
Our reputation in masonry repair and reinforcement has been built on the ability of our surveyors to promptly identify such issues and recommend the ideal remedial solutions, as well as our team’s ability to swiftly and cost-effectively resolve any brickwork remediation.
Why is your brickwork failing?
Brickwork can fail in two primary ways:
Lintels and brick arches can start to distort or drop
Often caused, or made worse, by movement, window replacement work, the passage of time, hygrothermal activity – i.e. the expansion and contraction of materials due to temperature changes over time – and/or moisture ingress. Poor workmanship cannot be ruled out as another cause and inadequate support over windows can allow brickwork to start to sag.Solutions often include bed joint reinforcement and fenestration lintel repair to add more support and stability, followed by repointing to renew the aesthetic integrity of your walls.
Brickwork can start to spall or break up
Frost action, erosion and poor pointing can aid in the crumbling of your brickwork. Another progressive issue is crypto-efflorescence, which can start as unsightly white patches but if left untreated can also lead to spalling.
The important thing to know is that all of the above issues are resolvable – all have been seen before and repaired before for hundreds of clients.
We are the specialists in repairing failing brickwork and cover Kent, London Surrey and Sussex with our specialist contractors and surveyors.

M. Tildesley, Homeowner, SE London
Your team have finished here today and left the place in good order. They were really nice to deal with. I was very glad that the work could be fitted into your schedule so quickly to accommodate our pre-booked bathroom work. Thank you.
I’m also very grateful to Scott for requesting that special care was taken to screen the scaffold from the street to minimise blown dust. This has worked well and there were no issues for our neighbours. I also very much appreciated that Andy organised the work here so that the bathroom area was addressed first. This has also worked very well for us under the circumstances.
My son took a look at the finished work and thought everything looked very neat and complete. I feel reassured that the house will stand tall – and straighter! – for another hundred years.
